Excerpt from March 15 press release, Government of Quebec

“I would like to underline the unequivocal commitment of all the partners and the entire Morin-Heights community involved in the realization of this housing project. It shows that improving the quality of life of seniors is a priority, and that their primary choice to age in their own home, within their community and in an affordable environment adapted to their needs, is fundamentally recognized.”

Sonia Bélanger, Minister responsible for Seniors and Minister Delegate for Health

“I'm very proud of the Municipality's ongoing contribution to this project since 2018, whether through the transfer of the land where the housing units are currently being built or through administrative support for staff. The project is perfectly in line with our family and seniors policy, in addition to contributing to the deployment of our strategy to revitalize the village core. It's also a concrete action to tackle the housing shortage, particularly among seniors. Thanks to Habitat Morin-Heights, many of them will be able to continue living here at a reasonable cost. ”

Tim Watchorn, maire de Morin-Heights

“Financing has certainly been an issue throughout the five years of project preparation. I would like to sincerely thank the provincial government, via the Société d'habitation du Québec and MNA Agnès Grondin, the federal government for its increased contribution, and MNA Stéphane Lauzon, as well as CMHC, the Municipality of Morin-Heights and Desjardins for their contribution. ”
